Our Story
How Shakey’s Came to Be
Shakey’s was founded by Mike Walton — known in the hockey world as Mike “Shakey” Walton, Number 16. A proud Toronto Maple Leaf, Mike won a Stanley Cup with the team in 1967 before trading the ice for the bar scene. He opened Shakey’s Original Bar and Grill in the heart of Bloor West Village, creating a neighbourhood gathering place that quickly became a local favourite.
Over the years, Shakey’s has passed through several owners, but the name — and its legacy — have always remained.
Rob Lundy and a Family Legacy
Hospitality runs deep in the Lundy family. Three generations ago, Rob’s grandfather, Michael Lundy, purchased the Stardust Hotel and Lounge in 1949 and transformed it into the now-famous Drake Hotel. He later acquired the Silver Dollar, operating both venues successfully for many years.
Rob purchased Shakey’s about 15 years ago, continuing his family’s tradition of running beloved local establishments. He’s refreshed the space while preserving its charm, ensuring Shakey’s remains a vibrant part of the community.
The Shakey’s Team
Rob has built an all-star team to keep the legend alive. Shayla Jordan leads as General Manager, with Keasha Warrington as Night Manager. In the kitchen, Executive Chef Matt Muron brings creativity and passion to every dish.
With their dedicated staff, Shakey’s is known for friendly service, a welcoming atmosphere, and delicious food — the perfect spot for neighbours, friends, and families to come together.
THOMAS W. HODGSON
In Loving Memory
We are sending our deepest condolences to Tom’s family and friends. Our hearts are heavy, we have lost such a valuable part of our Shakey’s family in September 2021. Tommy, Tom, Son, Brother, Family, Friend. You went by so many names and so many titles and lived up to all of them. You were special. You were thoughtful, charismatic, supportive, patient, funny, smart and kind. You made friends everywhere you went regardless of the setting, you could always tell when someone was having a bad day and always made an effort to make it better even just a little bit. You always showed up for people, you loved your family, your friends, you loved music and dancing. You were a light and we’re all blessed to have been able to experience the person you were. You touched the lives of so many, we will never forget you. Thank you to all who showed their support and love for Tom’s family.
We Support Ukraine
